28th national under-17 open & girls chess championship-2017

All major roads in the city will be leading to Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT), as it organizes a National Level Chess Championship in association with Dr.N.Mahalingam Chess Academy. Top ranked State players, Grand Masters (GM) and International Masters (IM) of high caliber and acumen will be under one roof battling it out to outsmart their opponents in the high profile, high octane tournament. Intelligent and Out-of-Box thinking, Planning and Execution are some of the major traits of players which will be put to test during the nine day-long event starting from 24^th, October till 1^st November 2017 at the sprawling KCT campus. Under – 17 chess champions from different states of India will be gunning for glory as they will be fighting hard to emerge victorious in the much anticipated tournament. Whopping total cash prize money of Rs. 2.5 Lakhs is up for grabs for the deserving winners.

KCT’s 1st District level junior & open chess tournament

Dr.N.Mahalingam chess academy was started with the intention to initiate, carry out, execute, implement, aid and assist activities towards development of chess and thereby to encourage the young chess players in this region. This academy conducted its 1^st district level open chess tournament for Junior level on 30^th April, 2017 (Sunday). The Various categories of the competition include: under age – 8, under age – 10, under age – 12, under age – 15 & open. Around 150 chess players in & around Coimbatore participated in the tournament.
